Well, it's Day 2 of Lewis being gone. He got a long term sub job in Pennsylvania teaching Theory and Directing a choir. I think he is helping out with the musical too. Even though it sucks that we have to be apart, I'm really glad that he was able to find a job doing what he loves. It's so weird to think that the next time we will be living in the same place is going to be when we get married!!!

My mentor teacher came in to watch my class today. I think that it went reallly well except for the part when I got a GIANT paper cut on a cardboard box and was gushing blood all over the place.

February break starts now. My Dad is home so that's pretty nice.

Well, I think I'm gonna go read for a bit. LATAZ!!!

So last week was really crazy and stuff because of midterms/finals. I most of my kids did pretty well. The lowest grade that I got on an exam was a 37% and that was from a girl who never comes to class. Right after I gave the test on Tuesday the councelors were freaking out (haha that's your crowd, Chelsea) because they needed to change the schedules of all the kids that failed (and some of the kids who didn't). It was REALLY hard to get 90 kids test corrected (50 multiple choice and 2 essays) PLUS figure out how to average 3 semesters worth of other stuff. Needless to say my 2 Social Studies Cronies Paul and Lia and I were at school until almost 8 o'clock at night trying to finish everything (we still didn't finish)

The rest of the week was spent protoring exams for other classes (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING) and trying to tie together some odds and ends. I think I'm going to have totally new classes on Monday. I'm kinda freaking out because this semester I am going to be teaching Global I (85 minutes), Global II (85 minutes) and Global II (full year). That's  A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of planning.

I'm really excited though because I ordered 2 books on amazon.com. One is about using role playing games and simulations in the classroom, and the other is about ways to make Social Studies more interesting and engaging. I think they should both be here by tomorrow.

Well, after such a hectic week I NEEDED a super chill Saturday. Lewis and I finished registering at Bed Bath and Beyond. If you go to their website and look us up you can see all of the super nice stuff we picked out. We couldn't find any dishes that we liked, but we DID find some on JCPenny's website, so we might check them out today.

We had dinner at Denny's which was kinda crappy because we had to wait an hour for our food and the waitress and cooks were screaming at each other in the kitchen. Yeah....

We also watched Pretty Woman last night, which I had never seen before. It was really cute.

OK sorry this went for so long. I think I'm going to shower, call Lewis, and get ready for chuch. I hope everyone enjoys what's left of the weekend.

I don't know why I like watching The Janice Dickenson Modeling Agency...I think it just makes me laugh. I just can't seem to turn it off and go upstairs.

Most of my kids did really well on the Global Final.

More on that later.

Still reviewing for the final exam. I'm beginning to become a big advocate of the BINGO. The kids called me ghetto when I had to use BINGO boards that were ripped of the Spanish teacher and have "Libre" as the free space, but hey, they worked. It's funny when they get really into it, but the best part is that they are really learning the Vocab. I keep seeing little lightbulbs turning on. That's a good thing.

I went up 10 notches on the "cool" scale today because I played Alicia Keys on my laptop while the kids worked on some DBQs about the Nile. It was kinda funny to see their expressions when they saw that I Ms. Rowley, had Alicia Keys on my laptop.

I think I'm going to bring the camera Lewis gave me for Christmas in tomorrow. I need to find some batteries. I've been wanting to take some pictures of the kids for awhile now.

Tuxes, Cake, Flowers, Invitations. Those are my next missions for the wedding.

I'm starting to get tired now. I think I might go read upstairs for a bit.

I'm half way through the school year. I can't believe it. My Global I kids will be taking their Final Exam 1 week from tomorrow. I am spending this whole week reviewing.

I wanted to come up with some fun review activities...so after some brainstorming I think I came up with some fun ideas. Since Vocab is key in Global I'm going to tailor my review around vocab.

Tomorrow we're going to do a Vocab. relay race. The kids will sit in rows and see who can look up and define a set of vocab words the fastest.

Wed. we're going to play Bingo.

Thursday we're going to do a vocab matching activity, where one kid will have the word and the other kid will have the definition and they will have to find each other.

Friday we're going to play Jeopardy.

We'll see how the review goes. I just hope that the kids will do ok...

Well Gee Wiz! I havn't posted in this thing in a really long time! I'm sure that there were lots of disappointed people out there who ran to their computers to see if I had updated and were extremely let down by my lack of entries.  Riiiiiiight.....

Right now I am sitting at my Dad's desk at Crothall Laundry Services in Lakeland Florida. I flew down here yesterday morning and I have been hanging out with my Dad ever since. I really appreciate and enjoy having just "me and Dad" time since he is away from home so much and we don't really get to hang out just the 2 of us anymore.

My flight down here was awesome. I thought that I was going to be bored on the plane so I brought a book, but looking at the clouds and the world below was so beautiful that I just stared out the window the whole 2 1/2 hours. The first thing that I noticed when I got to Tampa was how HOT it is here. Even though the temperature is "only" in the high 80s-low 90s the heat is a different kind of heat.. It's like a "I'm closer to the equator kind of heat".

Yesterday my Dad gave me a tour of the whole laundry where he works. It's so amazing to see how things are washed. When most people are at a hospital or the doctor's office they take for granted all the clean sheets, and towels, and those little skimpy gowns that you have to wear. My Dad's laundry is the place where all of that stuff is washed. First they dump out these hugs bags and people sort and seperate all of the laundry. Then the laundry gets packed into these hugs bags and they go on these tracks on the celing. The tracks are lead to these HUGE (and I mean the size of a whole room HUGE) washers and are washed. Then everythings gets compacted together in this big squisher thing and bought to these giant dryers. After they are dried they go to huge irons, then they are put through this cool automatic folding thing and are put into big bins to be shipped back to the hospital. The laundry area is REALLY hot because they don't have air conditioning and there are irons and washers and dryers all running at the same time. Almost all of the people who work for my Dad are hispanic. I loved seeing all the stuff that my Dad does everyday, and I now have a new respect of all of the hard work that he does.

The town that my Dad works/lives in is really nice. It has lots of stores and restaurants. Tonight my Dad took me to a BBQ place called Sonny's and I had pulled pork, salad, mac and cheese, and garlic bread. It was delicious.  I think when my Dad and I are done at work tonight we are going to go to Sonic's for ice cream. We drove my it last night and it looks like a neat place.

Well I'm gonna go do something else now. I'll try to type in this thing a little more often so that I don't disappoint my fans or lack there of.

[ mood | relaxed ]

Well...It's official. I've made my first student loan payment. The first of many payments I suppose.

Work was ok tonight. It was slow and boring. I guess that's better than busy and traumatic.

Right now I'm just waiting for Lewis to call me, and then I think I'm going to hit the hay.

I'm kinda sad that this weekend is over. I had a really good time hanging out with all of my family and just relaxing. I had so much fun with when my Aunt Lori and Jeanine came over and I showed them all of my wedding stuff.

I really need to get going on my wedding scrapbook. I havn't even started it yet.

Oh! I think my phone is ringing!!

It's I'm Going to be a Teacher Eve!! [08 Jul 2007|10:20pm]
[ mood | excited ]

As I sit here munching on my salad (with croutons and cheese) and reflect on my day I realize that on the surface it seems like all I did was work 2-close at BJ's. But if I really think about it, today was a pretty darn good day.

Yesterday I went to Lewis' graduation party. It was so wonderful to be there because I was able to meet some of Lewis' family that lives on the reservation up north. I feel so lucky because my family is filled with strong beautiful women, and I am going to marrying into a family of strong beautiful women. Sometimes I feel scared that I will never be able to like them, but when I really think about it I realize that I am just being silly.

I think it's cool how members keep commenting on my ring at work. They usually notice when I am writing. I have the most beautiful engagement ring in the whole world!!!

After work tonight I went for a walk with my Mom and we talked about my Gramie and about dying. It was like a "3 hour conversation with my Mom" A very cool thing.

Tomorrow I start teaching at Urban Choice Charter School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I feel excited and nervous at the same time. I am determined to be a great teacher...

Well, I'm gonna get some stuff together and then get some sleep since I have to be up super eaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarly tomorrow. Night!

Lewis Proposed!! [27 Jun 2007|02:30am]
[ mood | ecstatic ]

I am soooooooooooo EXCITED!!!! Lewis proposed to me tonight!!!!

I was supposed to go over to Lewis' house for him Mom's birthday but I was feeling kinda crappy when I came home from work tonight because I found out some bad news about my Gramie so I decided to stay home. At about 10 PM tonight I decided to take a shower (since it's about 100000000000000000000000 zillion degrees out) so I got my PJ's together and went downstairs. On my way to the shower I saw that my Mom was watching a show that looked interesting so I layed down on the couch for a bit to watch it before my shower.

Next thing I know I hear a knock on the front door and it's Lewis. I was SOOOOOOOO surprised/confused because I he usually calls before he comes over and I had no clue why he was there. I didn't even have a chance to get up from the couch because next thing I know Lewis is on he knee next  to the couch and he asked if I loved him. I said "of course" and then he pulls out this beautiful box with the ring inside. Of course I said yes, and cried a little....I am SO HAPPY!!

The ring is so beautiful. The most beautiful ring in the whole world. The best thing about it is that Lewis designed it all himself. He picked the setting and the stones. The diamond is a Hearts on Fire Diamond and it's super super sparkley. The sapphires are called Saylon Sapphires and they are super rare.

weird... [22 Jun 2007|01:19am]

It's so weird to watch all of my friends from college get teaching jobs. I still think of my friends as students, but now everyone is getting their own clasrooms. It make me proud to be a teacher.

It also makes me feel old.

so much to doooooooooooooooo!! [20 May 2007|11:23pm]
[ mood | busy ]

So, I LOVE how I have SO MUCH stuff to do and I have just spent like 30 minutes farting around on my computer. Now I am eating a bowl of cookies and cream ice cream and typing in livejournal. Niiiiiice.

Tomorrow I have an interview at Sylvan Learning Center. I REALLY REALLY hope that I can get this job. Although I wouldn't be a "real" teacher in the sense that I won't have my own classroom, you need a teaching certificate to work there, and I will be teaching kids. My Dad gave me some really good interview tips, and right after I finish typing this I am going to see if I can spruce up my portfolio a bit. Even if I get this job I will probably still keep BJ's as a side thing. I really want to start saving up lots of money.

Lewis also has an interview tomorrow with a landscaping place. Good luck Gooooonay!!!! :)

My Mom bought this really awesome book and decorated with wedding stickers and put me and Lewis' names in it. We are going to use the book to start writing down wedding ideas. I am really excited to start planning!

OK I need to get some stuff done. LATAZ

So I was just about to update this thing yesterday. I had it all typed out....and then a big truck drove by my house and ripped the cable wire of off the house. Soooooooo...I restarted my computer a whole bunch of times because I didn't realized that internet wasn't working because the wire was ripped off soooooooooooooooooooo... I lost everything that I wrote. Wah Wah.

On Satuday I finally walked across the stage in Geneseo. I guess that means that I offically OFFICIALLY graduated. I'm really glad that I walked across the stage because it made me feel like I really did graduate. My Dad, Mom, Grandma, Greg, and Chelsea all came to watch me. My face got super sunburned sitting out side for 3 hours. After the graduation we went back to my Grandma's and had a picnic. My Dad made really yummy hamburgers on the grill and my Mom made potato salad. My Mom gave me some really nice books and some earings. My brother picked out a bracelet and a floating pen for me. Chelsea got me awesome elephant candle holders.

On Sunday we went to the Lilac Festival for Mother's Day. It was really fun to hang out with everyone and just walk around. I had an orange smoothie. I'm going to go back to the Lilac Festival today with Lewis. We are going to ride our bikes there (YAY exercise!). When I woke up this morning it was thundering, but it seems to be nice out now. I think that Chelsea and Elise are going to meet us there later. I think it's going to be a really fun day.

Last night I went to the dollar theater with Lewis and his brother Mike to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Overall it was a pretty good movie. After the movie we went to Taco Bell because I was craving it. At least we didn't have to wait in the drive thru for 20 minutes like when I went with Chelsea.

Well, I better get into the shower!! Have a nice day everyone!! :)
